DESCRIPTION

The Texas Instruments MSP430Tm family of ultra-low-power microcontrollers consists of several devicesfeaturing different sets of peripherals targeted forvarious applications. The architecture, combined withfive low-power modes, is optimized to achieveextended battery life in portable measurementapplications. The device features a powerful 16-bitRISC CPU，16-bit registers, and constant generatorsthat contribute to maximum code efficiency. Thedigitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows the deviceto wake up from low-power modes to active mode inless than 6 us.

The MSP430FW42x series are microcontrollerconfigurations with two built-in 16-bit timers, acomparator, 96 LCD segment drive capability, a scaninterface, and 48 I/O pins.

Typical applications include sensor systems thatcapture analog signals, convert them to digital valuesand process the data and transmit them to a hostsystem. The comparator and timers make theconfigurations ideal for gas, heat, and water metersindustrial meters, counter applications, and hand-heldmeters.
